WASHINGTON — The United States Department of Defense has officially released the identities and photographs of two American service members killed following a series of Iranian drone and ballistic missile strikes on a military installation in Jordan.
The Pentagon confirmed on Monday that the fallen active-duty soldiers are Private Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, and First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Both service members were deployed to the region supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and were assigned to the Army Air Missile Defense Command.
According to military statements, the fatal assault targeted the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan late last week. Private Gonzales was killed in action during the initial wave of strikes on Friday, July 17. First Lieutenant Feehan died the following day, Saturday, July 18, from injuries sustained during the ongoing bombardment.
The deadly incident has significantly escalated regional tensions. Alongside the two confirmed fatalities, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that four additional service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals for injuries, while another military member remains listed as missing in action. Search and rescue teams discovered unidentified remains at the blast site on Sunday, which are currently undergoing formal forensic examination to confirm their identity.
White House officials announced that a dignified transfer of the soldiers’ remains will take place at Dover Air Force Base, as U.S. forces continue conducting retaliatory operations against targets linked to the escalation.
