GENEVA — Bektash Siawash, a prominent former member of the Parliament of Afghanistan, has officially launched his second protest sit-in outside the United Nations Office in Geneva. The demonstration tent was erected on Thursday, June 18 (28 Jawza).
The sit-in aims to seek justice for Afghan women and push an explicit demand to the international community to formally recognize the current system of governance in Afghanistan as “gender apartheid.”
This marks the continuation of a broader campaign led by the former parliament member. The first phase of this advocacy initiative originally commenced on April 1 (12 Hamal). It began with a five-day sit-in protest directly in front of the European Parliament, moving from Brussels to Strasbourg before it was concluded.
